A novel coronavirus disease, designated as COVID-19, is causing an outbreak of respiratory illness. The first cases of COVID-19 were reported in China in December 2019. On January 30, 2020, the World Health Organization determined the rapidly spreading outbreak constituted a Public Health Emergency of International Concern and declared it a global pandemic. Sustained community spread has occurred around the globe since that time. For this reason, the Department of State and The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued travel advisories for affected locations, and the Department of Defense responded by issuing restrictions on travel for its personnel.
